Poshmark Tips to Successfully Sell Your Closet

I’ve been selling on Poshmark since 2017. From my experience, I can honestly tell you it is the fastest, easiest way to make money and clean out your closet in one easy step. I’m here to share my best Poshmark tips after selling $739.00 worth of clothing from my own closet. 

Selling on Poshmark is the best way to make money fast and virtually never spend money on new clothing again. All you have to do is sell gently used items on Poshmark that are no longer getting use. Then you can use your earned money towards buying new items for your closet. It’s as if you’re never spending money on clothing. It’s a win-win all around!

You may have some questions about how to sell on Poshmark, so I’m here to help.

Below I’ve listed the most commonly asked Poshmark questions with answers, as well as my own Poshmark tips from personal experience. Of course, if you have any more questions, please drop them in a comment below. I’m more than happy to answer them for you!

How Does Poshmark Work?

Poshmark is so simple.

All you have to do is download the app and create an account. From there, take a picture of the item you want to sell and upload it to your Poshmark “closet”. Add the required information for your listing such as price, condition, and item category. Then list your item! You can repeat this process for as many items as you have to sell.

Once a buyer purchases your item, package your item, print and add the prepaid label that was sent to your email, and drop off at your local post office or blue USPS mailbox. Once your buyer receives their item, they will mark as delivered and rate their experience. Then your payment will show up in your Poshmark account. You can withdraw your money whenever you’d like. 

Can I Sell Anything on Poshmark?

Poshmark can be used to sell men, women, and kid’s clothing, shoes, and accessories, as well as home items.

What Boxes Do I Use to Ship on Poshmark?

You can receive FREE boxes from USPS in the mail to ship your Poshmark items.

Go to the USPS website here and select any size of shipping supplies you’d like that say “priority mail”.

Make sure to not select shipping supplies that say “express” on them as those do not work. They must only say priority mail. Then enter in your address and the shipping supplies will be mailed to your home absolutely free of charge.

Who Pays Poshmark Shipping?

The buyer pays for shipping. The shipping cost is automatically added to the item price when the buyer makes a purchase from your closet. Poshmark will email you a pre-paid shipping label as soon as a buyer places an order.

You are able to offer discounted shipping to people who like an item in your closet. If you choose to offer discounted shipping, the amount discounted is then taken from the money you’d make on that sale.

What Percentage of Your Sale Does Poshmark Keep?

Because you are using Poshmark’s platform to sell your items, they will keep a percentage of each sale. For all sales under $15, Poshmark keeps $2.95 from your total sale. For sales more than $15, Poshmark gets 20% of your sale and you get the other 80%.

What is a Poshmark bundle?

A Poshmark bundle is where people add 2 or more items to a “bundle” from the same closet (similar to “adding to cart” on a typical shopping website). You can offer a discount on bundled items in your own Poshmark closet. For example, in my Poshmark closet, I offer a 20% off discount on bundles of 3 items or more. Often times, when somebody bundles items, I offer an even larger discount like 30% just because it’s nice to be able to ship multiple items at once. You can check out my Poshmark closet here!

When Will Poshmark Pay Me?

Poshmark pays you as soon as your buyer as received and accepted their order. You can then withdraw your money whenever you’d like, or you can use it towards your next Poshmark purchase.

You have two options for how to receive your money when withdrawing. You can either receive it by check in the mail, or by a bank direct deposit.

How Do I Offer Deals to Likers?

After a Posher likes an item in your closet, you can click the button on the bottom right below your item picture that says “offer/price drop”. Then, you are able to enter in a lower sale price than what your item is originally listed as. You’ll also have the option to offer discounted shipping but you do not have to. That new offer price will then be sent to anybody who has liked your item.
